For its entire career, the band has consisted of vocalist Masafumi Gotohguitarist Kensuke Kitabassist Takahiro Yamadaand drummer Kiyoshi Ijichi. The band's musical style is influenced by seminal Western alternative rock acts as well as their own local Japanese indie-rock and punk scene. After realizing that they all shared similar musical tastes, the three decided to start their very own band.

Asian Kung-Fu Generation formed in is a Japanese alternative rock four-piece who are known for combining the influences of Western punk and melodic indie rock — hailing from Yokohama, Japan. After a few years of honing their skills around campus and in the local Yokohama area, Asian Kung-Fu Generation released their debut English-speaking EP in the year By this time the band were drawing large audiences to their shows in Shibuya, Shimokitazawa, and Tokyo, which led the group to sign with Under Flowers Records.
AKFG began as a college band back in in a private university in Yokohama. It was the first and, to date, the only major project for three of its members -- Masafumi Gotou lead vocals and guitarTakahiro Yamada bass and vocals and Kensuke Kita guitar and vocals. Soon they were joined by drummer Ijichi Kiyoshi, and this lineup proved to be stable, lasting over the course of three albums and while gearing up to release their fourth in springnot counting the many singles -- important releases in Japan, where CD prices are among the highest in the world, increasing the demand for cheaper records.
To promote the new record, the band have announced a nationwide tour in Japan set for next year. The band will kick off the tour in March and run through up to July. They will make a double trip around Japan — the first half will take them to live music clubs while the latter half they will see them hit up hall venues.
